The 2018 Dodge Durango - Family Utility and Performance That's Truly One of a Kind

These days, sport utility vehicle come in all shapes and sizes. But reviewers and our Pittsburg, Canonsburg, and Bethel Park drivers all agree there's nothing out there quite like the 2018 Dodge Durango. On the one-hand, it's a mid-size SUV on paper, but its capabilities are more akin to larger full-size offerings. And where competitors are increasingly downsizing their engine offerings, the Durango comes with your choice of one V6 and two V8s-and class-topping capability all around.

Exterior

A feel of "tasteful aggression" can be found on all Durango models. Along with its formidable presence, clean character lines and sporting accents help fill out the look. LED daytime running lights and race-track inspired LED tail lights provide a distinctive flair, and some models get unique cues for their specific missions. The best example is the new SRT, which has functional air vents to help cool the HEMI V8 beneath.

Interior
The Durango's cabin can be fitted to seat five or seven, depending on model, but every version offers a level of material quality and fit-and-finish that competing models can't match. That includes the base model, which gets UConnect infotainment, and a premium feel right out of the gate. Upgrading trims also boosts infotainment function and quality, with Citadel models boasting Nappa leather seating, an 8.4-inch display, heated and cooled first and second rows, and more. Lending further credibility to its midsize-SUV-with-full-size-persona is its ability to accommodate up to 85 cu-ft of cargo volume-a class-topping figure.

Engines
How the Durango puts power to the road is another of its unique areas. Most models come with standard rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive optional. From there, you have the choice of three legendary engines, each with at least one best-in-class title. The "base" engine is the three-time Ward's 10 Best Engines winner, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Citadel and R/T models get the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. New for 2018 is the SRT, a performance-tuned beast with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 under hood, standard AWD, and 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Features
The Durango offers standard and additional features that bolster convenience, safety, and luxury that will delight Mount Lebanon and Washington, PA customers. A power liftgate, expanded UConnect interface, and seats with leather trim or suede are all available on higher trim levels. If safety is high on your priority list, adding a Technology Group brings adaptive cruise control, automatic braking with collision warning, and other useful additions.
