How to Take the Doors Off a Jeep Wrangler

2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

A new Jeep Wrangler (or its pre-owned equivalent) is a machine built for adventure. Knowing how to take the doors off your Jeep Wrangler could mean the difference between a good time on the trails and a great one. Venetia drivers who like to have fun know that taking apart a Jeep means there’s as little separation between you and nature as possible.

We’re going to show you how to take the top off a Jeep, but that’s only the start of what a new Jeep can do. With a Trail Rated® model available at South Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT®, the possibilities are endless.

Step-by-Step Guide for Removing Jeep Wrangler Doors

This is the most common way people in Bethel Park take apart a Jeep. You need to fold down the side mirrors and roll down the windows first. Then, take the following steps:

  • Remove the hinge pin screws with a #T50 Torx head driver.
  • Slide the plastic panel along the door frame toward the seats to remove the plastic wiring access door under the instrument panel.
  • Unlock the wiring harness by pulling the red locking tab.
  • Push and hold down the black security tab beneath the wiring harness, then lift the harness level into the open position.
  • With the open wiring harness, pull down on the wiring connector to unplug it.
  • When the door is open, remove the check screw from the door check attachment on the bodyside with a #T40 Torx head driver.
  • Have another person lift the door with you to clear the hinge pins from their hinges.

If you have a four-door Jeep Wrangler, move the front seats all the way forward before you take off the rear doors.
